A 19th century sailor-made bone inlaid wooden games egg dated 1854
This lovely little object stands 4 1/4" high. The base has an inlaid bone disk reading "To Emily Sallis August 2nd 1854." The body of the wooden egg has the letter 'E' inlaid along with the four symbols of gaming, the heart, diamond, spade and club. The inside contents include 5 carved bone dice, 6 skittle pieces, one small bone ball, 10 bone disks each numbered from 1-10, and a complete set of 28 bone dominoes. I have never seen another set like this!
