Title: A rare early 18th century Dutch painted blown glass wine bottle with portrait of Lt. Admiral Pieter Pieterszoon Hein (1577-1629), Admiral of the Dutch fleet.
Description: This beautiful and rare early 18th century Dutch blown glass globular wine bottle stands approximately 12" high. It was painted in the early 19th century and features a portrait of Lt. Admiral Pieter Pieterszoon Hein (1577-1629), privateer and Admiral of the Dutch fleet during the eighty years war with Spain. He captured a large part of the Spanish 'silver' fleet on its' way from Central America back to Spain. The bottle also features several ships along with the Admiral's coat-of-arms on the reverse side. Condition: The bottle shows signs of an old re-glue/repair to the lower right of the bust of the Admiral, otherwise it is in perfect condition.
