A 19th century Sea Captain's or Officer's campaign form writing box circa 1830-1850

This very substantial writing box is made of mahogany and measures 20" wide by 8 1/2" high and 11" deep. The brass name plate is inscribed "W T Jones." Inside is lined with a 19th century green felt writing surface. The box retains its' original removable book rest. Also inside are four hidden drawers and one 'bonus' hidden drawer which is released by a complex series of steps. The side mounted pull-out drawer was fitted for gentleman's shaving and dressing implements. Condition: a couple of age cracks to the top but otherwise in very good condition.
