A Charming 19th century Sailor Made Folk Art Sewing Box with Ivory Inlays dated 1864

SOLD

Made of walnut and measuring 12 3/4" by 9" by 4", this charming box was probably made by a sailor. It has the date inlaid in ivory "August 28, 1864" as well as the recipients initials "I X L" with inlaid eagle above.
