A Fabulous English Brass Mounted Rosewood combination Writing Box and Dressing Box circa 1825

This magnificent brass bound rosewood combination writing and dressing box measures a whopping 22" by 12" by 10" and weighs a ton. The red leather writing surface appears to be a period replacement. The box contains 10 sterling silver bottles, inkwells and jars all of which are hallmarked for the years 1824, 1834 and 1838. There is a side mounted pull-out drawer which contains most of these jars and bottles as well as a bone handled straight razor and a cylindrical ivory jar with twist off lid. The top of the box has an engraved brass name plate with the name "Mr. C. S. Jamieson." Complete with a custom made mahogany stand which allows the writing box to be either displayed open or closed.
