Charles Sheppard was active between 1851 and 1882. This fine example was made in 1878. The chronomter is housed in its' original mahogany case with lacquered brass mounts including campaign style recessed carrying handles. The case itself has an applied ivory makers plaque with the Royal coat-of-arms on it. The chronomter is in perfect working order. Also present is the original winding key. The silvered dial has a 3 3/4" diameter and is numbered 1828. the hands are solid gold. Overall, a very nice example in original condition. 7 3/4" x 7" x 7"
