A Fine and early MEISEN Silver-Gilt Mounted Tankard circa 1740

Painted in underglaze blue with a bird perched on a stylized fence and rockwork issuing forth flowering branches, with stylized pagodas to one side, all below a trellis band reserved with flower heads below the rim, the handle mounted with leaf terminal and painted with a single flower, the cover with ball thumbpiece. Crossed swords in blue. Height: 7" to top of thumbpiece. Provenance: Brian Haughton
