The pair to this important pistol is on display in the Glasgow Museum of Art Gallery (no.39-65 case) and is illustrated in Claude Blaire's "Pistols of the World", published by Viking Press in 1968, plate 319. This .49 cal. pistol has a 1 3/4" barrel and an overall length of 6 1/4". The turn-off barrel is inlaid with a gold band of feathered decoration at the muzzle and breech and fitted with a folding lever beneath. The gold-inlaid rounded action is signed within a gold scroll on each side. The folding trigger is surrounded by gold inlaid feathering. The cock and frizzen are both also inlaid with gold decoration. Overall a highly decorative and rare pistol by perhaps the greatest gunmaker of the early 19th century.
