Standing 15" high, this fine flagon is cylindrical in shape, with a flaring foot and double domed cover with ball finial. The handle is scrolled in shape with a boot-heel terminal. The front of the flagon is engraved "THE CUP OF BLESSING," the base engraved "Abberly in Worcestershire, Augustus Hemmenway, 1880." Also engraved on the inner lid "Abberly in Worcestershire." A full set of hallmarks appears on both the lid and the side of flagon. A wonderful example of church silver. NOTE: The buyer may also purchase an exact (absolutely identical)silver-plated copy (without the engraving) made by Gorham silversmiths circa 1888. The price of the plated copy is $1,900.
