A fine Cased Pocket Six-Draw Telescope by Robert Gogerty, London, 1849-1855

This very fine small six-draw telescope comes complete with its' original red velvet lined leather carrying case with trade label of Robert Gogerty, 72 Fleet Street, London. (The scope is also signed by Gogerty). Gogerty worked at this location from 1849-1855. The set also includes its' original brass securing post to allow it to be used with a small tripod (now missing). There is also a night lens for viewing the sun and the stars. The barrell of the scope appears to be wrapped with baleen. All in all, a very fine set in near mint condition with only modest wear to the leather case which measures 5" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2". Very sharp and clear optics.
