A fine early 19th century English Gentleman's "Campaign form" Toiletry box circa 1828

Made of highly figured rosewood, this box would have accompanied a British Officer while on campaign. It measires 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" by 5 1/2". It is brass bound and retains its' original Bramah lock and key. The interior is fitted with two lift out trays, the top tray containing 7 sterling silver lidded toiletry jars hallmarked for the years 1827 and 1828. There are another two silver lidded jars on either side of the interior making for a total of 9 jars. The lower lift out tray contains a total of 9 implements, 5 of which have ivory handles. The box also retains its' original red crushed velvet back which opens to reveal a letter or stationary folder. Although some of the implements are missing, the box is in overall good condition. Also note that there is a small section (3 inches) of brass inlay missing from the front of the box.
