A Good Civil War Model 1852 U. S. Navy Officer's Sword With Original Sharkskin Scabbard

Made by one of the pre-eminent 19th century American swordmakers "W.H. Horstmann and Sons, Philadelphia," this fine example has a beautful untouched blade with wonderful engraving. The eagle pommel is surrounded by 13 stars. The edge of the blade is also engraved 'iron proof.' The brass mounted sharkskin scabbard is about in mint condition. Overall a very handsome and original Civil War piece.
