A Half Model of the New Bedford Whaleship "JAMES ALLEN" second half of the 20th century

A very decorative half model of the James Allen built at Fairhaven in 1844. "Maiden voyage Oct. 1844 to May 1848. Pacific Ocean on 10 June 1872 First Mate Jonathan Norton and boat crew taken down by a whale." The ship struck a rock and sank off the coast of Alaska on May 11, 1894. 15 crew saved and 25 crew lost. 46" by 14 1/2"
