A large 18th Century Mahogany framed Mariner's Octant in Painted Case

SOLD

A rare large framed mariner's octant with 20" brass index arm complete in its' original painted stepped pine carrying case. The octant dates to circa 1750-1780 and has an ivory scale, an ivory vernier scale as well as an ivory name placque. The painted case features a seated lady draped in a flag on the cover with the sides adorned with flowers.
