A large Relic made from Wood and Copper taken from Admiral Nelson's Flagship VICTORY

Made to look like the Trafalgar Monument that stands at Southsea. The anchor is inscribed "Victory's Anchor Oct. 21, 1805" and is done with gilt lettering. The inside of the lid has a wonderful late 19th century photo of the Victory anchored at Portsmouth Harbor with all her flags flying. The box also has four glass panels each having inscriptions: "Near this memorial on the 14th September, 1805 Admiral Lord Nelson embarked for the last time, being killed on the following 21st October 1805 at the victorious Battle of Trafalgar." The next panel is inscribed "The Battle of Trafalgar/The British fleet consisted of 27 sail of the line, that of allies of France and Spain 33, of these 19 were taken or destroyed by Lord Nelson." The third panel is inscribed "Ready Aye Ready" and the last panel with Nelson's immortal signal sent on the eve of the Battle "England Expects that every man will do his Duty." Length 9 1/2" Depth 7 1/4" Height 8". This is one of the finest relics made from the Victory and worthy of a museum.
