A late 19th century Library telescope by William Stanley of London circa 1885

William Stanley (1829-1909) was a British inventor who made precision instruments including telescopes. This particular example has a 2 1/2" objective lens and a 31" all brass barrel. The optics are sharp and clear. The overall height including the tripod legs is 17".
