A Magnificent Brass Double Barreled Flintlock Pistol with Silver Inlays by John Parkes of London circa 1770.

SOLD

This large and ornate center hammer pistol has its' frame and barrels made from one solid piece of brass. The silver wire inlays on the walnut grip are the best I have ever seen and are 100 percent intact. The boxlock frame is beautifully engraved. The back of the grip features an oval silver escutcheon surrounded by an intricate border of silver wire inlay. The butt cap features a fabulous sterling silver 'grotesque mask.' The pistol retains its' original brass tipped ramrod. The iron triggerguard is also engraved. Overall, double brass barreled center hammer flintlock pistols of this size and quality are quite rare. This example is among the best, if not the best.
