A near 'mint' condition antique Mariner's ebony framed Octant signed Spencer Browning & Co., circa 1852.

SOLD

Fabulous condition with more than 75% of the original lacquer finish remaining on the brass mounts. The edges and finish on the ebony frame is near perfect showing little if any use. Also included is the rarely found original ivory pencil. The mahogaany case is also near perfect with only one minor 1/2" split. The trade labels of Spencer Browning, the maker, and F. W. Lincoln of Boston, the retailer, are as fine today as the day they were put in the case. The index arm measures 12". This is a very clean and original octant worthy of any collection.
