A pair of English flintlock brass barreled coaching pistols by John Bennett circa 1790

This rare pair of flintlock coaching pistols have 8 3/4" octagonal to round barrels inscribed "LONDON" and "LONDON to EXETER." The oval brass side plates are marked "3" and "4." Each pistol retains its' original horn tipped ramrod. The stocks are made of dense European walnut. There is a vacant oval brass escutcheon at the wrist. The brass trigger guards have an acorn finial. The overall length of each pistol is 14". Bennett is known to have made 'brass barreled coach pistols' for multiple Government and Corporate entities. He worked from 1771-1805 at his shop at the Royal Exchange in London.
