This very handsome composite knife was made up from older elements sometime in the mid 18th century. The brass hilt (cast with flowering branches and the pommel having a double mask-lion and human)was taken from an English hanger circa 1680-1720, the engraved blade appears to be from a cut-down European sword of the 17th or early 18th century. Overall length: 12". From the William Guthman collection.
