This exceptionally rare piece of sailors' folk art has its' cover carved with the name 'Capt. J C Pease, Oswego, 1874' over a carved depiction of a Schooner named 'Schooner Delos Dewolf.' The spine is carved with the name of the book 'The American Cruisers Own Book.' The back cover is carved with a schooner and a steamer. Ornate brass hinges. Height 8". Illustrated in J. Welles Henderson's JACK TAR, A Sailors' Life, 1750-1910,' p. 123. A museum quality piece.
