A rare pair of English silver plated candlesticks circa 1798-1800 commemorating English naval victories.

The four victories inscribed on the lower section of the sticks include 1.) Nelson's victory over the French fleet at the Battle of the Nile on August 1, 1798 2.) Admiral Duncan's victory over the Dutch fleet at the Battle of Camperdown on October 11, 1797, 3.) Lord Howe's victory over the french fleet on the "Glorious First of June 1794" and lastly 4.) Admiral Jervis' victory over the Spanish fleet at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent on February 14, 1797. The candlesticks were obviously made befor Nelson's famous victory at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 1805. Height: 8 1/4"
