A rare pair of Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada bronze bookends by Jennings Brothers circa 1910

An exceptional pair with a chocolate brown patina. The inscription on the back reads "The Spanish Armada sighted 1588 at Plymouth. When the Spanish ships came in sight Drake and his officers were playing bowls. 'Do not stop playing,' he said. 'There is time enough to finish our game and beat the Spaniards too." Height: 4 1/4"
