An early Victorian Tortoiseshell Sewing Box dated May 12, 1837

Measuring 4 1/2" wide by 3" deep by 2 1/4" high, this beautiful little sewing box is in near 'mint' condition. The silver escutcheon has the initials M A L and the date May 12, 1837. The fitted interior retains its' original red satin lining which is also in near mint condition. The contents include a Tonbridgeware spool, another spool with a label stating that it is Royal Adelaide Thread, four tortoiseshell shaped thread holders and three metal thimbles. The four brass bun feet also appear to be original. A real charming box in wonderful condition.
