This fine Blunderbuss was made by Joseph and William Richards of Birmingham circa 1808. The brass butt plate is beautifully engraved and has achieved a wonderful mellow bronze patina. There is also fine 'rococco' style silver wire inlay at the barrell tang. The stock is of finely figured walnut having a checkered wrist. The horn tipped ramrod appears to be original. Lovely acorn finial trigger guard. The spring bayonet is mounted on top the brass barrel which has the traditional flared muzzle. Overall length 31"
