One of the finest Pennsylvania longrifles converted to percussion, on the market! Attributed to Samuel States(born 1797), gunmaker from Lehigh County, PA., by Ron Gabel, past President of the Kentucky Rifle Association and former owner of the gun. Highly figured, graceful and beautifully proportioned tiger maple stock with no visible splits, breaks or dings. Full-length totally engraved toe plate with two pierced sections. Full length fore stock hand guard fully engraved. Silver escutcheons on both the wrist and the cheek delicately engraved. The brass side plate is beautifully engraved as is the original flintlock lockplate which was engraved at the time of conversion to match the engraving to the patent breech. Magnificent 1840's conversion to percussion with a patent breech- the best ever! Six silver escutcheons for barrel lugs. Overall superb condition! Barrel length: 38 1/2". Overal length: 55".
