An exremely fine and rare Mahogany framed Mariner's Octant dated June 23, 1777

This exceptional piece retains its' original glass filters, sights, ivory pencil and all other parts. Everything is intact and in near perfect condition. Mahogany framed octants with 18" index arms from this period are rare and having it inscribed is even rarer. The inlaid ivory plaque reads "Made for Thomas Price June ye 23rd 1777". This clearly is a museum quality piece and worthy of any fine collection of early navigational instruments.
