An historic pair of presentation binoculars dated 1879.

Mounted with a silver plaque inscribed "Presented by the Government of Canada to Capt. William A. Peterson, Master of the Barque Essex of New York, in acknowledgement of his praisworthy exertions in the rescue of the shipwrecked crew of the Barque Viking of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, 23 February 1879." Length extended: 11" Good optics.
