An important late 18th century iron bound oak travelling liquor chest belonging to Gen. Abraham Rose of Long Island having its original and complete set of gilded hand blown glass decanters(12), tumblers, funnel and wine glasses. Spanish circa 1790.

SOLD

It would be hard to find a better set in this condition. Other than one small replaced period wine glass, all 12 glass bottles and stoppers are original, along with the funnel, two tumblers and the single wine glass. The chest measures 12" high, 17 1/2" wide and 12 1/4" deep. There is a horizontal crack on the lid and one small iron clasp is broken but otherwise the chest is in wonderful original condition. PROVENANCE: Sold as part of the contents of Rose House, Bridgehampton, N.Y. on June 10, 1995. The Rose family is one of the most prominent of the early Long Island families. Lt. Abraham Rose served in the Revolutionary War. His son, also named Abraham, became a General during the War of 1812 and commanded all the Long Island troops.
