An important silver cup presented in 1846 to the Capt. of the Steamship ALABAMA by the Officers & Soldiers of the 5th Regiment Louisiana Volunteers who were returning home after fighting in the Mexican War.

The inscription reads "Presented to Capt. H. Windle, Master of the Steamship ALABAMA by the Officers & Soldiers of the 5th Regiment Louisiana Volunteers to whose seamanship they were indebted for their preservation in a severe gale off Brazos de Santiago May 31, 1846." Made by New York silversmith Hyde A. Goodrich. Height: 8 1/2"
