An unusual and rare Naval Dirk with 8" blade having a 'seashell' guard, British or American, ca. 1800-1820.

I have never seen a 'seashell' guard like this before. It is quite detailed and accurate. There is one small chip to one of the turned edges of the bone handle. The blade has a lovely dark patina with very minor pitting.
