The Dutch East India Company ship "GELDERMALSEN" sank in the South China Sea after leaving Canton headed for Amsterdam in 1752. Laden with nearly 170,000 pieces of Chinese porcelain, the wreck was discovered and salvaged by Capt. Hatcher and subsequently sold by Christies in Amsterdam in 1985. Offered here is a beautiful brown glaze bowl with blue and white river scene interior. It is referred to as Batavia Ware of Capucin. The bowl measures 6" in diameter and is 2 3/4" high. It retains Christies original auction sticker. Fabulous condition.
