Volume 1,First edition published by Charles L. Webster & Co.,in 1885. Volume 2,published in 1892. Original green cloth covers with round gilt medallions. All 49 maps and illustrations present along with the two steel engraving frontis portraits, all with tissue guards intact. Also included is the dedication from Grant and the Appomattox surrenbder letter. Grants autobiography recounts the campaigns and battles in which he participated during the Mexican-American War and the Civil War. Grant focuses most of his attention on his military career. Completed five days before his death in 1885. Published and sold by Mark Twain. An excellent copy of one of the best memoirs ever written.
