Made by John Brown of London circa 1800-1810, this elaborate pair of gold and silver inlaid flintlock tap action pocket pistols appear to be in virtually 'as new' condition with only minor wear. The 1 5/8" round barrels are inlaid with gold in a vine pattern and the forward portion of the frame is inlaid with gold in a Fleur-de-Lis pattern. Both sides of the frame are also inlaid with gold in a 'trophy of arms' motif. The underside of the frame has two gold inlaid English proof marks and a Fleur-de-Lis ahead of and behind the folding trigger and on the sliding hammer safety. The walnut grips are inlaid with a silver grape vine and leaf design with a gold oval escutcheon surrounded by a silver wreath with what appear to be tiny jewels. Overall length is 5 3/8". ABSOLUTELY MUSEUM QUALITY!! Comes complete with a custom made mahogany display stand.
