The only pair ever offered of documented 'Ward' room doors, circa 1850-1900, off the USS CONSTITUTION. Full provenace available to the buyer.

These doors, circa 1850-1900, were given as a gift to a person who made a large donation to the Constitution's restoration fund during the ships' extensive renovation from 1927-1931. In a letter dated January 9, 1971, the following was written: "I, Edith S. Bruce, of 14 School Street, Woods Hole, Massachusetts, am writing this letter pertaining to two doors which were removed from the USS Constitution in 1932 and presented to my grandmother Cora Roche Howland in return for her donation to the restoration fund of the ship. This was verified by her to me during her lifetime. These two doors which I believe were in the dining salon, are sold to Eugene Vagen for a sum of money on this day, Saturday Jan. 9, 1971. Signed Edith S. Bruce" Along with the two page letter are various emails to and from Margherita M. Desy, Historian, Naval History & Heritage Command Detachment Boston, USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston. Along with the correspondence are black and white photos taken of the interior of the Constitution in 1900 showing various wardroom doors and the interior layout. All of this will be given to the buyer of these historic doors. This is truly a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to acquire a major piece of U.S. Naval history.
