Fine Early 19th Century Sea Captain's Writing Desk circa 1822

Exceptionally fine English mahogany and satinwood sea captains's writing desk engraved with the crest of Thomas, Second Marquis of Headfort. Born May 4, 1787, he married in January 1822, the date this box was made according to the hallmarks on the sterling silver inkwells, each having his crest. He later became Lord in Waiting to Queen Victoria from 1837-1841. Retaining its' original green leather writing surface, this fine box also has its' securing screws and hand lever to anchor it into place on board ship.
