A fine example of a 19th century antique ladder framed sextant with platinum scales in a fitted case. Complete with all the original tubes, filters and lenses. The fine example was made by 'James Dennett Potter, 31 Poultry lane, London' circa 1860. He was given an "Appointment to the Admiralty" due to the high quality of his instruments. This particular example also has the rare distinction of having the name of the original owner engraved on it: 'G.H.C. Macarthur, Royal Navy.'
