An Antique English Marine Chronometer by Shepherd & Sons, 'Makers to the Royal Navy,' circa 1870

Made of rosewood with brass mounts, this nice example is in original condition retaining its' original key. The 56 hour movement keeps accurate time. The hands are made of gold. The silvered dial reads "Shepherd & Son, 53 Leadenhall Street, Makers to the Royal Navy." The serial number on the dial as well as the brass cup match and is number 1747 which would indicate a manufacture date of circa 1870. The case measures 7 1/4" by 7" by 7".
