Made between 1821 and 1834 by the well respected London firm of Nathaniel Worthington and James Allan, this fine presentation single-draw telescope has silver over brass and silver over copper fittings. The tapered mahogany barrel retains its' original finish. The 1 5/8" greenish objective lens gives a sharp clear image. Engraved in script are the initials "COP," which may stand for Rear Admiral the Honorable Charles Orlando Bridgeman (1791-1860) who entered the Navy in 1804 and was promoted to Captain in 1819 and later rose through the ranks to Vice-Admiral.
