A Cased pair of English Flintlock 'Gentleman's' Traveling Pistols by Thomas Mortimer, GUNMAKER TO HIS MAJESTY, London, circa 1810-1815.

The 6" octagonal barrels are engraved "Thomas Mortimer,Ludgate Hill, London, Gunmaker to His Majesty" and the lockplate also has his name engraved. The fitted mahogany case has its' original key and measures 8" by 15 1/2" and has been relined in dark green baise. The pistols each have their original brass tipped ramrods. The stocks are made of figured walnut with finely checkered grips. The engraved trigger guards end with pineapple finials and retain much of their original blueing. The overall length of each pistol is 11". The engraved lock plates have sliding safety catches and the touch holes are lined with platinum. Each pistol also has a silver escutcheon engraved with a family crest. The accessories include a bullet mold, patch cutter, oil can, powder flask, mahogany cleaning rod and screw driver. Althogether, a very nice and original cased set.
