An early example of a coaching blunderbuss. The barrel is engraved "G. Taylor" for George Taylor who made blunderbusses around 1690. The gun itself was probably made around 1730 judging by the form of the stock and the form of the brass hardware and incorporated an earlier barrel. The overall length is 32" with the octagonal to round flared brass barrel measuring 16". The brass side plate is engraved "The Dukes Head, Kings Lynn." The muzzle is further engraved "HAPPY HE WHO ESCAPES ME." Overall in very good condition. The ramrod appears to be the original.
