A fine brass barreled coaching flintlock blunderbuss by Durs Egg circa 1780-1790

A diminutive example only measuring 27" long. The 12" barrel goes from octagonal to round and is engraved "LONDON" in script at the breech followed by "LONDON-BATH-BRISTOL." The lockplate has the Royal Crown of King George III as well as the maker's name "D. Egg." A highly unusual and rare feature is the 'SIDE' MOUNTED 6 1/2" BAYONET which is engraved No. 27. At the wrist is an oval brass escutcheon plate engraved "The George Inn, Bath." The gun appears to have been made originally under private contract as a coaching weapon but later was acquired by The George Inn in Bath. Condition: A few minor knicks and scratches on the walnut stock but otherwise in excellent condition. Nice tight action on the cock as well as the spring bayonet.
