A fine pair of Double Barreled English Flintlock Coach Pistols by James Wilkinson, London, circa 1810, Gunmaker to His Majesty King George III.

These pistols are excellent examples of the work of James Wilkinson, Gunmaker of King George III, and founder of one of England's most famous gun and sword makers which are still in business to this day as Wilkinson Sword. Features of this magnificent pair of pistols include highly figured walnut stocks, exquisite checkered grips and fishtail butts, .50 cal. damascus barrels, finely engraved triggerguards, rear ramrod thimbles, barrel tangs and lockplates. Further features include beautiful French style cocks, line engraved roller frizzens, rainproof pans, platinum lined touch holes and gilt barrel key escutcheons. The top of each barrel is signed "Jas. Wilkinson, LONDON." Overall length of each pistol is 11". CONDITION: The lock of one of the pistols retains some original case colors. Also, one pistol retains original bluing on the frizzen and triggerguard. Barrels on each pistol retain faint traces of original browning. The lock on one pistol and its' triggerguard were polished at some point. The walnut stocks on both guns are crisp and retain most of their original varnish.
