A Pennsylvania long rifle in original flintlock by Crupret Weaver of Lehigh County and dated 1834

This very nice example of a Pennsylvania long rifle is actually photographed and described on pages 28 and 29 in KENTUCKY RIFLES & PISTOLS 1750-1850 published by Golden Age Arms Co. and James R. Johnson for the KENTUCKY RIFLE ASSOCIATION in 1976. The stock is a beautiful curly maple. The octagonal barrel is 40 1/2" long and is .44 cal. smooth bore. The overall length is 55." The eagle inlay on the cheek piece is inscribed "E Pluribus Unum." The engraved and pierced patch box has a peacock engraved on the finial. In front of the trigger guard is an engraved Indian head. The engraved palm plate is dated 1834 and also has an engraved eagle. The engraved toe plate extends up to the trigger guard. Crupret Weaver was part of the Allentown-Bethlehem school of gunmakers. This may be his finest example. Condition: Old varnish finish. Minor age cracks at toe and a short hairline ahead of the lock. Mechanically sound.
