A Rare 18th Century Revolutionary War period "Hessian" Soldier Folding Pocket Knife made of bone and horn circa 1775-1780

One of only a handful of known examples, this fine and rare 18th century (C. 1780) folding pocket knife is made of carved bone and horn. The top section depicts the headgear, face, hair queue and epaulets of a "Hessian" soldier. The body, made of pressed horn, shows on one side an arm holding a sword. Very good overall condition considering its' age. Overall length: 5 3/4". Ex: Bill Guthman collection.
