A Rare U. S. Naval Officer's Sword Circa 1815-1840

The hilt of this great example retains approx. 70% of its original silver plating. The counterguard has a fabulous droop-winged spred eagle and shield sitting atop a large fouled anchor. The checkered ivory grips are in good solid condition. The straight 30" blade is in near mint condition, retaining 90+% fire blue and gold. the scabbard is also silver plated reataining over 50% of its original finish. Finally, there are two carrying rings, with an ornate 'frog' stud and superb woven suspension chain.
