An 1840's Mexican War era Bowie Knife resembling the work of noted maker Enoch Drabble

SOLD

This large and formidable classic Bowie knife (13 1/4" overall) has many of the same features as those made by Enoch Drabble in the 1830's and 1840's. The 8 1/4" blade shows light pitting and some staining but is otherwise in very nice condition. The massive ivory handle has a rounded end and has two decorative silver rectangular bars pinned to either side. Similar examples are featured in "The Bowie Knife" by Norm Flayerman and "Classic Bowie Knives" by Robert Abels. A very early and desirable Bowie!
