An early 19th century Danish 2 pound naval cannon known as a “Falcon“

SOLD

This late 18th or early 19th century 'upper deck' 2 pound naval cannon was likely captured from the Danish at the first Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 or the second Battle of Copenhagen which took place in 1807. The heavy brass barrel measures 37" long and sits upon a new custom made oak naval carriage nearly identical to the original. The overall length of the cannon and its' carriage is 41". Sometime after the Treaty of Segauli was signed between the British and the Nepalese on Dec. 2, 1816 it ended up in the hands of the East India Company and eventually landed up at the Royal Armory of Nepal. It remained there until it was recovered in 2003. As a further note, a second example is currently available should a purchaser wish to buy a pair.
