Absolutely stunning! It would be nearly impossible to find a better pair any place. Features include the original steel belt hooks, engraved brass lockplate, engraved two stage brass barrels, engraved cocks and the original ivory tipped ramrods with steel worms. All the silver mounts were made by Birmingham's most famous 18th century silversmiths Charles Freeth and Richard Bickley and include the trophy-of-arms side plate, the roccoco style escutcheon, the grotesque mask butt cap and the trigger guard all have complete sets of silver hallmarks for the year 1776. The stocks are of highly figured walnut and appear to have their original finish. Joseph Bunney worked from 1765 to 1814 in Birmingham but marked his guns 'LONDON.' These are better than 'museum' quality. Provenance: Peter Finer of London
