An exceptionally fine gentleman's flintlock travelling pistol by Clough & Sons, Bath, England, circa 1820.

SOLD

A truly beautiful pistol in untouched original condition retaining much of its' original blueing. The engraving on the barrel tang, triggerguard and lockplate is exceptional. The figured walnut stock shows only minor wear and retains nearly all of its' original finish. The checkered grips are sharp and crisp. The horn tipped ramrod also appears to be original. There is a vacant silver escutcheon below the barrel tang and the barrel lugs are both made of silver. Another feature is the sliding safety. The octagonal .50 cal. smoothbore barrel measures 6" and has a lovely brown patina with no pitting. The overall length of the gun is 10 1/2".
